Okay, I am trying to get this time travel shit straight for myself.

In despair of losing Hitokotonushi, the "Future" En-no-Ozuno became a sennkn and takes on the name of Sansei Shounin.

Then, this Sansei Shounin tried to execute the "presentation" to the gods, but failed.

Then, to retry and better his chances, he travelled back in time to the "Current" time, found his younger self, and became his own master.

He stayed in the "Current" time for a while to train his younger self to become a sennin earlier than his "Future" self. But after the failure (Zen's incident) he pivoted into doing the feasting thing.

When that one was executed, it resulted into the "Current" time becoming deprived of Mantra, but it is still not enough as a "presentation".

So then he went back to the "Future" to go back in time again to make a "Second Current".

And now our "Current" timeline group is regrouping in the "Future" where the Sansei Shounin originated.

Did I get that right?

Not quite. Traveling back in time is a requirement for the Presentation, since it needs to happen BEFORE Hitokotonushi dies.

The rest sound plausible, although we can't be sure that the insects are the "first" attempt at the Presentation.

I still don't think 90% of this plan is going to work. How do they even know how the backflow works?

Oh.

Izanagi and Izanami's firstborn, Hiruko, was born deformed and died. (Though as a god, he got better, since death wasn't permanent until Izanami died.)

This was because Izanami was the first one to greet Izanagi around the marriage pole. (In essence, she proposed to him.)

Since Miyo technically proposed to Zen first, and they have such strong ties to Mantra, the Older Miyo may blame herself for their first child's death.

Also that baby on the first page is reminding me of Kagu-tsuchi, Izanagi and Izanami's last child, whose birth killed Izanami.

Cute.

Hiroi is right; Ozuno does have that gaping hole in his heart. Zen and Miyo are the reason this version of Ozuno didn't turn into Kozumi.

And... I understand his anger, hate, and sadness too... the child of a person deserves more than gentleness and care... they need commitment.

Zen, Miyo, and the many others Ozuno helped could... "ignore" this lack of commitment because they probably had received that beforehand or in other forms, so it isn't something they lacked... but Hiroi is his kid; he deserved to have that from his father.

In a way, Ozuno failed him, but... well, it is a difficult and complex situation; I think me saying anything more would even be offensive.

You are pretty much on point.

The thing that isn't clear, yet at least, is from what timeline Kozumi is from.

Like Hiroi pointed out, the Ozuno we know wouldn't or simply didn't turn that way because of the presence of Zen and Miyo, but as he said... he does have the fundamental aspect that would lead him to become Kozumi still, the "gaping hole in his heart".

Despite his grievance with his father, and rightly so, Hiroi is right and wrong... yes, the "hole" is there, but as he said, the presence of those two helped Ozuno stay himself, because in his own way, Ozuno cares.

Point is... this creates an impasse... we can pretty much be certain the timeline here isn't a simple current, but a ramified pathway, because clearly... Kozumi isn't a "direct" version of Ozuno.

By some things he said, we can infer this isn't the first "travel back" Kozumi did, if it is the first presentation, we can't be certain, but he certainly has been coming and going in the flow of time enough to, let's say, have dislodged himself from his main timeline.

At this point, he is just a ghoul going around the flow of time trying to make his obsession true, and as long as he succeeds on that, he doesn't care how many timelines he will leave in shambles.

That is one of the reasons some of us here in the comment section think the divine relic Sarara said it can kill Kozumi may not, in fact, succeed on that.

Because Kozumi clearly isn't a "direct" version of Ozuno, and... well... who knows how far and >wide< that relic can go in the flow of time, maybe the "horizontality" of Kozumi's original timeline is so far from the current Ozuno it could blow in their faces.

SMH at Hieda interrupting Miyo's based proposal; this is why Hieda will die alone...
F for Hiroi's daddy issues. It took a lot longer than I expected for them to start talking about Shirato and how she might die and lose the vast bulk of her life along with her kid. Congrats to Tarume though.

You're right. After another close reading (I've done this at least 5 times now because its so confusing please help) it appears that the Ozuno of the timeline our Current group is currently in is still alive and is NOT Sansei Shounin/Kozumi. God dammit.

So there's like at LEAST 3 timelines. Maybe more.

it's interesting that Hiroi would hate Ozuno so much that he'd be so eager in insinuating killing him when.. wouldn't that mean by their strategy's theory, Hiroi would cease to exist as well? boi's got a lotta angst. though, considering his willingness to sacrifice himself, he takes after both his parents so much to his own detriment.

He is purposely making himself out as the bad guy in order to lead people away from realizing he's asking for his own death.

I'm pretty sure any variation of the "let's shoot down the general's horse" they could do is gonna be useless, as long as it's not the Shirato that gave birth to this specific Koizumi. Like other comments said, the current Ozuno isn't Koizumi, and now that Koizumi has been messing up the timelines and interfering, it's not likely he's gonna exist in any "future" variation; there is only one Koizumi, and the timeline of his birth is likely too far removed or too convoluted to ever reach. Only possible way is to get rid of him as he is currently.
