I agree, socially awkward with lots of misunderstandings is fine.
but too gullible is problematic, as it could be used to easily turn Kino into someone harmful to society.
(won't happen, this is afterall mostly a comedy. but from a story telling perspective its a bad choice)

Nope! In Chapter 3 there were 4 species listed. They were all S-Ranks, but Yamata-no-Orochi was not one of them.

(Unless of course Kino's grandpa made the names up himself and one of them does refer to the Snake. Though I doubt it)
