I hope he wasn't naive enough to try to save the evil bandit. I would understand trying to postpone his death a few moments so he can serve as a distraction against the monster, but I doubt that is a strategy Cross would think of. His other former adverseries reformation was already tough to swallow, but I absolutely wouldn't want this rogue to join the band of friends.

Honestly I hope they don't win on their own. Cross has already miraculously won against the bandit leader, pulling that off against the much stronger dungeon boss would be absurd. I would prefer that they just disable the level restriction of the dungeon somehow and get saved by the teachers.

I hate how much "adversity" the mangaka of today put their characters under, it's so boring to have the characters face "impossible" odds back to back to back and then pull the a conveniently lubed plot convenience answer dildo out of their assholes.
It makes all of the fights feel cheap and useless.

I mean, every other time it was something that was plausible and established at some point in the story as being possible, usually in some extremely deliberate way. And always coming at, for that moment, a big personal cost to Cross.

Right now, for the way the scene went, it feels like such an underserved asspull, even worse after he used a potion on the PoS Rogue. Cross didn't even actively use a skill, the one thing we've been told time and time again is the trigger for the weapon to switch forms.
