well if this was the normal world i would be very much inclined to agree with you, but this cultivation world according to cultivation novel knowledge everyone is attacking and probing everyone and everywhere unless they desperately need something and sometimes even then to get favourable conditions

and since he intends to use this identity more than just now its gonna happen

as a cultivation novel mc its always best to disguise yourself as someone drastically weaker than yourself (clichee of disguising yourself as a pig to eat the tiger instead if being forced into "riding the tiger")

@Roadrunner9000 We must be reading some very different ones, then. Most I've read, most wouldn't dare to attack someone who's so high in cultivation. They're not "seeking death" after all. Why do you think most characters in these stories always stand down when someone much stronger shows up...even the MC if they're far outclassed like we see happen a few times. Hell, only reason MC attacked this guy was because he was driven into a corner with no other way out.
