@Lolipop_Candy Both stories of Kanojo Ni Naru Hi were sufficiently serious about its theme. I would say they both did a much better job at showing he effects such a change could cause without going edgy.

MC feels way too exaggerated, especially considering the very next chapter we see another character whose first response isn't to randomly stab and cut at their own body. Dysphoria or not, this is just trying to use shock value and suffering to spice up a character who has no personality besides "gay and sad".

I think that there would be a variety of responses. Not everyone is going to feel the same, and even among people who feel similarly not everyone will react the same. It is a highly unusual and stressful situation, and we have enough of those with a wide range of possible reactions in our world already that it isn't hard for me to imagine that we would have a variety of responses in a fictional world.

Personally I think it's appropriate that some small fraction of people would react violently to these 'isomorphic' changes. After all there's already a small subset of transpeople who do cut or attempt to perform self-surgery. Not all transpeople do, but some do.
