Where was he even hit? Kinda unclear. This manga is awesome but if I have one point of criticism, it's the art. It is often so messy, it's hard to figure out what's going on.

I agree about the art being messy but it works well during the main battle sequences as it’s all just a blur of death and confusion which is how I imagine a lot of combat actually was. I do wish that certain scenes, like Murrue being hit, were a little cleaner though

Fragmentation on the left side of his torso. Could be minor, could be enjoying a nice and slow bleedout. Atleast he is in a nice an safe trench with no lingering enemy strugglers remaining, no?

The art is good, but its... hmm messyness, while supporting the intensity of the combat at times, is essentially "shaky cam", but drawn. Can't see shit without really paying attention.
