The priest obviously wasn't being honest since he's letting a bunch of suicidal fanatics tag along with his search, but he never once directly blame her for everything so far, since that would be contradictory to what he just said a few moments earlier ("You need not trouble yourself over it. They would never resent you. Your choice is your own.")

This has been a sufficiently fucked up trip so far. I don't remember much of what's happened since the update schedule seems kinda wonky.

Depending on that, the head-priest might.... be genuine? That cold "you need not trouble yourself" makes me hesitant, but at the same time this isn't the most absurd thing in this world. He has seen this before when the real cleric died, and I don't know if something like this can even work to someone else that doesn't have the reincarnated Ophelia's baggage.
