Author was always kind of a coward with it. I mean, Kazuya first love being himself was a copout.

But like, Kiriha used to be a romantic interest, she always was a sexual agresor but couldnt defend herself when it was wholesome. And it kinda balanced her character.

Chisato was the childhoodfriend placeholder.

Suneo joke was that she has to marry Kazuya.

And mainly Kyoka who was made to be a replacement for Kiriha had a way different relationship with Kazuya. She had trust issues and Kazuya had to won her trust to become her companion

Back in the day both Kyoka and Kiriha were his partner.

But now the entire bunch is just Kazuma and his tsukonogamis.

Everything is just powerup makeouts with everyone. I just dont see Kazuya as someone who can feel romantic love. He is just a medium for sex scenes. And if he is only a medium for sex scenes. Why not use other mediums for sex scenes?

Um... You do understand we had a fullblown proper sex scene with that girl from the government and her Tsumogami (futanari sex). Madarai had proper sex with the minor shrine god (I am forgetting her name) and he also raped Oriobana.

Not to mention the underworld chapters where his needle Tsumogami was getting constantly raped but the female leader of the spirit gang, in front of her followers.
