I will never understand the mind of the Japanese editor. I have seen so many good series get axed meanwhile garbage series are allowed to have hundreds of chapters. In another world with my smartphone literally has an epilogue series for some reason.

considering the last few chapters, I'm glad it got axed. That "Fall from grace" and "redemption" from the saintess is the most garbage shit I've read in a while.
The Fall From Grace and Redemption only ended up so garbage because it was axed. The author was probably told that he had five chapters to wrap things up and so he tried to speedrun things. There was one manga I read where it was axed in the middle of the battle so literally the battle just immediately ended and everything was resolved in two chapters.

Very clear case of obvious Axe.... Axe so bad it ruined the story too. Like I think they could technically Axe End it likes the conflict still continue, and MC's journey still continuing, after manga end.
That being said, that kind of ending would cause another problem of "Edging People from seeing Conclusion"
In the end, neither ways are good.... thus is the fate of AXED manga

Haven't read this chapter yet. Just came to say I died when I read this was canceled 😭. That is the absolute worst.

Not so different from any other editor really. Have you seen all the books Marvel keeps canceling lately? You can't even just call it sales anymore. The new Ultimate Universe was selling really really well and then they pulled the rug out from everyone by announcing they wouldn't continue it after Johnathan Hickman's two year plan. Lots of good shows get canceled too. Now more than ever with streaming. Corporate sucks. What can you say. It's sometimes not even do to poor performance. Maybe they just want to move some parts around or there's some dumb behind the scenes thing or there's a surprisingly human issue with the creators and corporate isn't going to bother putting it on hold while things are resolved.

The problem isn't how it's done, it's that it's done at all.

She literally sees the cult doing vile things "Cross would have never been fine with that" and she still fucking joins them and then we're supposed to accept any kind of redemption after that?

Okay, I've read the chapter. And wow that was nothing. This is such an interesting story. Even with the kinda weak tropes of "everyone's in love with MC but he's clueless." There's so many interesting avenues to go for this heroes party that just cracked under the weight of all the pressure being on a pedestal did for them. Cross was the only thing that grounded them and kept them together and yeah, they would crash tf out if he died. One day I'd love this to get like idk a remaster. Guy who sacrifices himself too much accidentally turns the heroes party into a monsters party. Also just go full harem with it. Why not. Bro should not be this dense.

On same sentiment here, I too think this is good to end here, and its not really bad that it would end like this.

It's actually kinda believable. Before she joined the evil machine cult, she had already completely broken down. She blew up her church and forsook everyone. She stopped worshiping her goddess. It's like Anakin in Episode 3, but if Padme died at the start, and the Jedi just told him "Don't be sad. It's the will of the force." and he just grew to hate everything. Like the force itself and the galaxy itself.

The very basic idea is that you don't put this much pressure on one person. That was the whole heroes party. The only thing that grounded them and kept them as heroes was Cross. The priestess especially. She had so much weight put on her shoulders and had to be perfect to live up to their idolization and had to listen to everyone else's problems. Cross was her only reprieve from it all. Without him she just snapped. Who knows what her death count was before she joined the machine cult. In those moments where she felt nothing and was aimless (she lost Cross and had forsaken her ENTIRE religious beliefs as a result) Alice came in and offered guidance that vaguely sounded in line with what Cross would've liked. She probably didn't even really believe in the Machine cult, but it was SOMETHING. That is who cults go after quite effectively too. Like in real life.

The redemption was rushed as hell. Like yeah. That's the axe. Super interesting concept. Would've been fantastic to see it develop more slowly (more of the flashback) and there's so many ways the story could've gone with it. Nope. Nada. Axe. Plus this was always gonna be a "he forgives all of them and they're too powerful to be brought to justice so who cares."
