I'm not surprised about them plotting to replace the hero. That was fairly obvious that they would use this as an opportunity in some way shape or form since they clearly disagreed with him being a hero in the first place.

I'm more curious to know if any of these fools who entered his dungeon will survive to begin with...

so taking marie custody is a move to confirm hero crime and failure. marie will be the main witness as she is member of hero party. If the former member of hero party say he is asshole, then its true.

Knowing how these sorts of stories generally turn out, the party gets exterminated to show off the MC's DM skills, and the stupid hero somehow survives, comes back with an evil power-up, loses control, then gets put down by the MC.

I'm fine reading all this, but I feel there's more of a focus outside the dungeon than inside for what feels like a long time now, and it all came too soon. But I was fed up with the whole hero's party since the beginning, so maybe it's my bias talking. To think we just skipped his preparations to the party's attack is a bit of a letdown.
P.S. The faces were horrendous this chapter, more so than before.

This direction of the story was foreshadowed by the incident with Fitz:

This hero, as shown by the manner with which he has talked to Fitz in the sixth chapter, is already inclined to think that anyone needs a very good excuse (like a leg missing) if wants to leave his party.

He sounds very close to cutting their limbs himself if they want out.
