Unless the Manga changes things, this is the last bit of importance the little bratty girl has in the story. Despite her larger panel on the last page, she's irrelevant from here on in and no real mention is made of her aside from, I think, the end of the event briefly. The archer and the healer in the smaller panels are the major characters for this arc and will be recurring somewhat.

I thought similar. Kalos' design looks like the ikemen type. Slender but rectabgular body proportions instead of the exaggerated curves of the female characters, eyelashes are deliberately short, gestures and posture seem more masculine than feminine. If the novel confirms, then that's that.

I think it's less of a 'tank classes are looked down upon' and more like 'heavy knight as a class is looked down upon for being hard to use even for its intended purpose and there probably are better classes out there if you want a tank'
though I'm honestly not sure, might be wrong, one other option is that the reason his father was outraged is bc he wanted a strong offensive class and got a tank instead, but given that everyone seems to look down on him for being a HK I think the first option is more likely

i agree. the very first page of chapter 1 seems to reinforce this since it implies there are other defensive classes that are valued for their versatility

For the comparison to other tank classes they probably have more intuitive options for defense (paladin self healing perhaps?) while he has abilities to use shields and weapons but the only unique defensive ability he's really shown is life shield where he is sacrificing health for a shield that blocks the same amount. His skill tree even gives up on being a tank in important scenarios and just turns to full one shot instead so he probably never really gets solid defensive options.

And a shield bearing tank is always going to be less glorious than flashy big damage sword wielder so his father probably would've been some degree of disappointed the moment he got anything that wasn't 'sword saint' or at least an offense focused class.

I'm pretty sure tanks are literally just trash in their world. He isn't even a tank, hes a glass cannon berserker that converts all his DEF into ATK. And having high MAX HP just allows him to maybe survive being one-shot.

I think of the few people that might have stumbled into it, they probably died because if you screw up one stat, it becomes garbage again. Such a niche build relies too much on MIN-MAXing to be viable for people that can't just look up guides online or practice for hours how to dodge/parry everything with heavy armor.
