It wouldn't necessarily be bad writing if this arc is to set up a recurring character. They showed a master/disciple duo of a class that is also looked down on, and showed the struggles the master went through, it is good for light world-building that it's not just Heavy Knights being looked down on. If they end up throwing the duo away after the arc, that would be disappointing.Yup, it's the law of detail conservation. There'd be no reason to have all this attention on the master, including introducing his apprentice, if he didn't have anything to do with the situation.
Predicable, but ironically, if it turns out that he isn't involved and it was just a red herring, that would just be bad writing since all this set up would be for nothing. Unless the writer manages to surprise me, but the plot has been super straightforward up to this point.
That’s exactly how armour and shields work in a lot of actual RPGs and MMOs, a shield takes the slot of a weapon so the bonus to defence has to be roughly equivalent to the lost damage from the weapon, while everyone has armour so the amount of defence it provides is much less.nice the sniper not upload first
and why does the shield (88 def), even his first shield(25 def) have way more higher def than his blacksteel armor(+15 def)???
meanwhile the mc already reported the centipede or smth boss to the guild masterYup. Shifting suspicions to the only ppl that can pursue him to gather evidence, or to court if they got evidence. Others he can silence, or rely on reputation to mislead.
Like how he tries to mislead mc into not reporting to guild to avoid being "silenced" by guild master
may i know what chapter is this on wn?Cool seeing Celt come around after reading this arc in the WN, him and Maybell are definitely great supporting cast. I like their back and forth sniping.
This seems to be a theme up until the current WN where party members drop in and out with the core membership being Elma and Luce (naturally), next two up are fun in their own way, but the OGs will meet up again soon-ish for another arc.
That and red herrings are necessarily bad either. They can be used to misdirect you into thinking what the author wants you to think while setting up something you didn't see coming, that you normally would have, because of the distraction. A red herring done well is actually fantastic story telling. It wouldn't necessarily be bad writing if this arc is to set up a recurring character. And a really good one at that. Some MMORPG stuffs are written by authors who have 0 knowledge of how MMORPGs work.I like the adventurer in this story, they're actually competent to certain degree.
It just MC is too good at this "system" so he manages to reach the elite in no time and with his charismatic he also earn more reliable allies despite their personality.
This feel like a good MMORPG story if it not isekai.
To me there is a huge difference from building a good mystery by placing somewhat misleading situations, and straight up lying to your readers or withholding important information. Lots of mystery writers are hacks that don't know the difference. So far nothing we've seen in this seems to be overt lying, just lots of hinting and unknown. So unless they are completely withholding information and the villain is some new guy that we've never seen, it's still all good. That and red herrings are necessarily bad either.
