the cherry tree stump that won't bloom represents Senri
for the longest time Senri couldn't bloom she couldn't move on. then she was married to chiru
yet still burdened by guilt and fear, the process of breaking through was hampered
but now with the aid of chiru she has finally broken through and took the first step. she has sprouted from her charred past
now with chiru by her side she is on her way to bloom once again
but just because she has sprouted does not mean the hardships are over
there will be many more hardships and trials before she reaches bloom, but with chiru's help she should be able to overcome them

@diidlydoo I always like when people put that much thought into the imagery in manga, because probably about half the time even the artist honestly didn't. There's pretty decent odds if the author read a comment like that they'd be like "Uh, yes that's exactly right. Totally the plan. (I just wanted to make the tree she loved look like it was trying to bloom again, but that sounds way better. Should write that down for the next time anyone asks.)"

I couldn't tell you which is the case here, but it amuses me to think about this sort of thing. Just the possibility that someone was just in a rush to meet a deadline and sort of accidentally did something that looks kind of genius.

If it's so important to continue on a family line, maybe ... don't get your daughter engaged to another girl so there can definitely be no more family line?

I don't think it has to be the same blood, I kinda don't like the way people only care about passing their blood, passing down your ideas is even more important and special, passing down the knowledge is something kinda overlooked nowdays, I really would like the idea of instead of having a blood related child, Senri adopted a kid, a kid that lost everything, just like her and show her the way to find happiness despite everything lost and passing down something as meaningful as the knowledge of her family would be perfect for that, I really am don't think blood is a problem here, I think that being with someone you love is more important
