I don't agree with the Waka thing. A normal reader wouldn't necessarily know what that means unless there is a TL note somewhere in the chapter, which I haven't seen any. They'd just see it as a name. And now we're calling him with 3 names?

Let's say that Shiki as a lich abandoned most of his emotions. But if I remember correctly in the future Abelia will join the Kuzunoha under Shiki. Shiki using her obvious attachment to him will also convince her to body modification experiment (which you know Makoto hates, I mean the part when his subordinate forces or uses someone to abandon their humanity, like what happened with Lime and Tomoe) HOWEVER, as it's speculated, it seems that Shiki indeed is attached to Abelia but don't understand that emotion yet. And he wanted her to be more powerful so she can stay beside him and protect Makoto. I read this really long ago, and I'm not sure if manga will follow that, but that's what I remember

Spoiler: Also regarding Yuno and Mithra

Their relationship is SUPER WEIRD. As you know, she and Sif are trying to become Makotos wife, however as you can see that no one apart from Tomoe and Mio interests him at the moment. It won't change much in the future. So Mithra and Yuno eventually will start dating each other. As I can see, they both love each other as well, BUT Yuno stated that if at some point Makoto fall for her, she'll end up marrying Makoto instead of Mithra.... It's really strange and looking at both of them, I don't believe her lol

"Is it like this every year?" Nope, based on the audience reactions the mages are usually even more lukewarm. Honestly, it's laughable.

The organizers are the worst. Usually you spread the top seeds in a bracket as far apart as possible, but they really put all the strongest contenders against each other in the first rounds and even pointed it out to the audience by giving them wooden weapons. And then you have the ones doing more matches fight twice in a row? You would have to be blind to not notice the issues with that.

IIRC Ilumgand forced the organizers to make the Kuzunoha class to knock each other out and use wooden weapons as part of his ongoing amplified grudge…and also because he has that much noble backing power to achieve it. The intention was to nerf and harass them as much as possible. Obviously, he didn’t know how cracked up they are, so the wooden weapons are not much of a handicap (eg. Jin beating the crap out of that poor regular armored-up student in a 1-sec burst).

If you're talking about the last page, that's Root, aka the myriad color dragon, aka Faltz the guildmaster. It must get boring to watch five minutes of chanting each fight for a barrier deployment after a couple of centuries.

It’s all a matter of tone which is really hard to convey through text in English. A blanket “young master” really isn’t affecting anything. It would be different if it was a change in suffix, but I think Tomoe is just speaking roughly
