There is a mix of his closest companions trying to restrain his personality, so that he doesn't go off the deep end and just go full nihilism. There are parts about characters (such as during the Lorel arc) where individuals are terrified at what they see behind his current persona.

As for being forcably teleported by the goddess, that will get resolved.... down the road. It really is kind of a slowly moving story.

Also, he does "man up", but that is quite a ways down the road. Sadly, I considered that introspective arc likely the most boring, as he is just dealing with personal and business issues mostly. I can understand it being required for his development, so I can't hold that against the story since they went out of the way to do it.

I personally don't feel sorry for him, he chose to take the drugs cause of a stupid reason. He then ignored all the warnings and just yeah maybe he's a cool dude but your choices define you.

They explained previously that the First and Second wife in this society bear and take care of the children. The third and onwards is typically for connections and infidelity is part of that as they have no obligation to the husband. People have also likened his appearance to a kobold's multiple times early in the story.

In all fairness its because of love normally which is exactly what MC in this series wants. My man is quite restrained with his sexual urges too.

Whats up with this series never having the MC mature? I know the monster girls are keeping him "innocent" but really at this point it's become a plot crutch and he should be no longer this naive to how this world is. Especially after multiple things that have directly happened to him. Also we are still just skipping by that whole teleport situation like as if it never happened? If I was the MC I'd have alot of questions about it since it essentially set him up to be assassinated.

It does happen, but it happens after the lorel union arc (2-3arcs away) rather,he is aware, just "not ready" and he didn't know about how polygamous this world was and why until it was explained by shiki (fairly recent in the story).

I think for Makoto, he's been isekaid for 6months-1 year at this point in the story, so he's still experiencing culture shock,and time period shock. So it's somewhat understandable.

That kind of declaration would be really bad for someone willing to take him up on the offer. He really shouldn't use his word like that, since he's a merchant.

Yeah, there will be some event that come in consequences, but it's wayyyy later on, in the novel.
In the current arc, the city will face a serious crisis that MC will resolve, obviously. His reputation will rocket and the woman will be shunned and ridiculized by everyone by declining his confession.
She really will have a hard time since all the city respect MC now and everyone thinks that targeting the woman that break his heart will make MC happy and give them a chance.
She can't even really blame him since she herself spill the bin by telling everyone how MC propose to her and how she turn him down.

At some point, MC hear about it, and decided to help her out by publicly sponsoring her research and helping her in it. Doing that, people stop harassing her.
She feels shame to have being mean to him while he casually decided to help her instead of ignoring her, she knew that she reap what she saw.
After talking to him about her research and divers magic related stuff, she finds him fascinating and want to study him. She uses all her energy to trap him or his students into a conversation with her for her research.

Makoto is a great MC, and unlike what other people claim, he has had serious growth as a character. Just not on the direction you'd expect. People who dislike him want a generic self insert to fantasize about, and that's not what he is at all.

He's a nihilist kid who lost his japanese high school boy naivety rather quickly and already went through quite a lot in the time he's been there. If you pay attention there's quite a bit of foreshadowing going on, something this series does well.
