@hikufalafel : not the fault of the demons, MC just said, and only said : "I have nothing to do with her and I don't want to fight you" the first point is batlantly false because the goddess summoned him in this world and she teleported him in this battlefield and put an aura on him.

So it's understandable they don't trust him on the second point.

MC is fucking dumb, not trying to talk to them more (while they talk to each other) and monologging in his mind.

Great plot hole but author surrelly didn't wanted to think of a better way to create such situation.

I came here to complain about how this could all have been settled if he just opened his mouth and said all the things he is thinking to himself. But it looks like a lot of other people are posted about that, too.

Instead, he says the bare minimum—just enough to be misunderstood—and then goes right back to thinking the things he should be saying out loud. Hell, just telling them that none of his abilities have disappeared because he doesn’t have any of that goddess’s blessings would have been enough.

I usually like this manga, but this whole scene has been so forced it’s ridiculous. Not to mention they’ve wasted a ton of pages on accomplishing nothing.

@Knighto said it best. he completely spells out to lancer(in THIS chapter btw, didja not read it?) that he has no desire to fight them and that the bug(goddess) can kick rocks but neither of the two care.

@Darketower none of that would matter

he came down covered in the Goddess' golden power in the middle of a full-on charge against the Hyuman capital of Limia, so for them it doesn't matter what Makoto says, he is an obstacle to be eliminated who is empowered by the goddess.

and the second he takes off those rings they both decide that he is too powerful to allow to grow anymore and needs to be eliminated.

lancer and sofia have serious tunnel vision and sofia is a super meathead who only thinks with her fists (so to speak)

@traveling_chef people just want to read what they want (you also are explaining it but still people call bs on this), makoto mentions twice he isn't related to the goddess and that he was forced... and most important he doesn't give a F about what they do (pretty much implying he gives a F to the hyuman), but they still want to fight for well... the golden aura (bug really f*ck him there) and that sophia is a musclebrain, she would have kept her attack anyways.

@Knighto : saying he's not with the goddess doesn't mean anything. And there is a big difference between disliking/despising and not wanting to have business with someone.

Just saying what he said doesn't prove anything. There are more proof he works with the goddess than none (got tp in this world, got tp in this battlefield, got an aura from her).

He could have explain that he got rejected by the goddess and that he can prove it by his "ugly" face and his un ability to talk human for example. He could say that he doesn't have any blessing from the goddess, with proof that once they removed her aura he is still powerful. He can say he is friend with known monsters.

Here MC just ask to be blindly trusted when everything point he is with the goddess, maybe he just want to go far away to makes a surprise attack or something? Who knows? Surrelly not the demons because MC doesn't wants to prove anything he says.

And even if the demon trust him, there are no reason to keep him alive because, as MC stated, he is neutral. Which means there are more chances he become hostile in the future (because for them he is human and surely live with other humans that despise demons). If he explained he was against her, or that he dispised her, the demon would think a little because there would be some chance he become a powerful ally.

@traveling_chef : no, did you read the chapter? MC never said something as strong as "the goddess can die idgaf" he just say I don't want to work with her. Which is far more tame.

I'll send you to my last message for what he could have said.

Sure, maybe it wouldn't have change anything but at least they'd have think a little before attacking.

@NaEpFuS : MC can't talk but he can communicate with humans by writing... He does it from a lot of time now, but somehow he forgot he could do that during an important time... Go figure why. (and it was before he lost his finger or the fight begin)
