すきやき (sukiyaki) is how I imagine the raws originally said it. Suki means like.
If you're a young kid with alot of pride, you'll defo be shy and try to slip in some hints and stuff. Too bad Runa was so dense, but that's not her fault, she's been bullied for years by him, so naturally, she probably wouldn't think of him as a love interest!
