This is a very strong first chapter. MC still has the Japanese teenage men syndrome, but he's a lot more aware of it and doesn't just sulk for no reason. But the main cooking element has to the FMC, because she defy romance stereotypes whilst being charming as hell. Looking forward to this.

Thanks for the scanlation!

This is quite cute, but so far nothing of substance really happened. Which makes sense, considering that this is just the first chapter. I'll have to wait for more plot developments to see if this romance manga is great or not.

All this talk of dominoes makes me crave… domino steins. No, not pizza slurry in steins (what is wrong with you…), but a christmas confectionary in Germany and Austria.
I can't concentrate on what's happening because it looks like hair is growing out of the girl's ears.
Weirdly enough I can’t find a TVT entry. It’s not hair antennae, though its principle – hair sticking out – is shared, just not from the crown of the head, but the… areole hair? (Not to be confused with areola hair!) is not unique to Machino either, I’ve seen it with other characters.

PS:
Ch001p19, could someone explain the phrase "duck-call-gone-wrong kind of laugh"? The closest thing that makes sense to me is her way of smiling on the preceding page; it’s more : 3 than : ) , and looks like Megumi’s smiles in Ah! My Goddess! and a couple other characters elsewhere. Since the contours of the smile are somewhat similar to a duck’s beak, I can see that being the origin, I just have never heard of it being referred to in such a way.
(Heck, my brother and I did label it as a Megumi smile since she was the character we encountered it first and most prominently with.)

PPS:
This isn’t y’all, is it?

It looks so painfully generic that i think i rolled my eyes to back of my skull. Even self insert slop enjoyers must have standards right? RIGHT?
I agree halfway the concept is there and the a girl seems ok but MC…

I feel like MC might single handed lay drag down the manga. He’s got generic romcom hero vibes where he’s a loser otaku. Which on its own isn’t horrible but pair that with the fact that he isn’t even a good straight man.

Like he just randomly criticizes her for the obvious without any reason or prompting that’s kinda a-holeish.
And it feels genuinely annoying that his two “straight man qualities” self-awareness and naivety Daren’s mixed well for a first chapter.
