Wait, so is this prequel to the whole story? Spica started her Dexter journey only after this?
as someone else said, this chapter is present time, but to elaborate: my read on what the Grandma said is that she thinks that Spica started her Dexter Journey after they embarked on the revenge path. (Of course, we don’t know if this is necessarily true, since we know very little about Spica’s past.) it’s clearly taken a while for them to track down their family’s killers, and they’ve done some shady things in the meantime to engineer this scenario. it makes sense for Grandma to assume that “correcting the errors” is something Spica maybe felt but repressed until a respected adult in her life explicitly told her “if the cops fail to fix it, you have to take it into your own hands” (and also probably taught her surveillance, tailing, B&E, etc lol), even if it wasn’t until right now that those actions actually came to fruition.

IMO Spica probably did at least one “innocent child murder” before being adopted. (just for yknow. dramatic backstory reasons.) but it would make sense if she was trying to be a normal girl, and it’s Grandma’s revenge quest that gave “structure” to something that might have only been a fleeting impulse up until now.
it also makes sense for Grandma to accept it, it’s not like she can tell Spica that nobody else’s murders matter without being a massive hypocrite

1) Spica sociopathy is separate/independent of her mind reading.
2) Sociopathy results from mind reading.

Grandma thinks that it's #2. And that fits with general Japanese thinking -- born pure/innocent, something has to happen to taint people -- e.g. reading people dark desires/thoughts.

If it's #2, then grandma's acceptance might be ray of light that starts to clean Spica's tainted soul.

But even if it's #1, then grandma's acceptance of Spica no matter what, might affect Spica. Someone that know her true self, but accepts it anyway.

OTOH (if it's #1) Spica might realize that grandma doesn't really understand her, so Spica is still isolated.

Separately (regardless of whether it's #1 or #2), Spica might feel worried about grandma joining in on Spica "fixing buttons". It doesn't bother Spica -- but Spica might realize that it would be too hard for grandma.

You really got to wonder whether Spica helped kill the robbers because she wanted revenge herself or because her grandma wanted revenge and it just happened to fit with her "hobby". I can't help but think that it's the latter. There's a very notable lack of grief and anger from Spica in those flashbacks.

We've had Chinese Electric Batman, now get ready for Psychic Psychopathic Batman

Grandma is Alfred, of course.

Edit: Also want to remind everyone who might have forgot, but the numbered Nameless Killer chapters are always capstones where that one kid's Uncle makes a breakthrough in connecting Spica to all of these murderer confessions. So expect that next chapter.
