cmon man, too many tsundere will always make you lose in love competition (losing heroine) like sakurai :dogkek: aino is seriously pretty and beautiful full love for MC. and in the last page, chika MC ex-fiancée shows up and totally kills the lovey-dovey mood between MC & aino :haa:

Aight spill it to me, what's that "Finnish" phrase supposed to mean?

Also, you snooze you lose, Ms. Childhood Friend.

So, if his family decided on this engagement and the former fiancé/childhood friend is his cousin and part of the same family then why didn't they just get them back together at this point? The original engagement was thrown out because his parents divorced, but now they are using him again. Admittedly, I am guessing that they didn't do that because they think that the former fiancé doesn't like him anymore...so I guess she wouldn't be seen as a potential partner then?

AH the whole childhood friend taking too long to convey her feelings only to convey her feelings when another girl is interested in him trope

well this did start making me read the web novel, and catching up to this point with the bits of additional front-loaded backstory explanation, all I can say is I feel like Chika the Ex-Fiancee is being more than a little contrarian getting mad about this new engagement.

I just wish our MC was a bit less of the self-hating wishy-washy archetype that (I feel) is overplayed, but I admit his reasoning per the WN feels at least a bit more justified than the usual reasons (like "I abandoned my sports team and now am the worst human in existence" type stuff).

I love that they make a big deal out of the FMC being Finnish and yet she is behaviourally indistinguishable from any random Japanese character in one of these stories.

It always kind of amazes me how much Japan desperately tries to balance its foreigner fetish with the incredibly conformist social expectations. Authors really want mysterious and exotic girls who can be different than the Japanese norm, but then lack the imagination to make them distinct in any way from the Japanese norm other than the fact that they might know a different language or have a different hair color. Unless they're a ditzy comic relief side character, in which case they will also probably be kind of dumb and will have constant "hilarious" cultural misunderstandings or faux pas.

Yeah every time I see a series with a foreigner majn heroine I just expect a typical Japanese girl with blonde or platinum hair.

Oooooh so close! Aino was forced to marry Väinämöinen because his brother had promised her to him as a wife, after losing a (magical) singing competition, and being spellbound to a swamp as a result. The mother was happy about it (Väinämöinen was a renowned hero, sorcerer and even a demigod, having one of those in the family is quite the honour!), but it wasn't the mother's doing originally.

And yeah that was perfectly normal Finnish, though it's "sinä", not "sina". Completely different letter.

That childhood friend is so annoying, if you don't have feelings for him, then mind your own business. If you do, then stop being such a pussy and confess that

Stupid af
