No. You didn't read the explanation. When one dude goes to the other timeline, he merges with himself from that timeline. If the demon king from the previous timeline was Kail, Kail would not be fighting him, because he'd had merged with Kail from the very start. We'd likely have Seran telling the story instead, because Kail ceased to exist.

The others suggested a different theory, in which Kail will become the future demon lord. This is possible, because the future hasn't happened yet.

If this black winged dude is Kail himself, either one of them would not exist, as Kail merged with himself. There cannot be two or three Kails in the same timeline. If this black winged dude is Kail, and the magic does not fuse him with himself, there would be 3 Kails in this timeline, which is the 'Kail from the previous timeline', the 'Kail from this timeline' and the 'Kail who's the black winged dude'. Not possible.

@Aichan I have a theory for how could there be two Kail in this timeline IF that black-winged dude turned out to really be another Kail. But I'll refrain from divulging any more info. let's just say my theory has got something to do with the Many World Interpretations theory and the concept of reincarnation in Buddhism.

@KazarianFhas Seran was stronger than him in his past life, and but for his mysterious "demonic power" (bleh) and vast advantage in experience, Seran would have beat him in their duel in the current timeline. He still barely equals Seran and would lose a prolonged fight. What part of that is "equal"?

I mean, all the evidence in the story is vaguely pointing that way. Iirc, the author’s denial or rejection that the MC was the demonlord was on social media.

From his POV, of course he has to deny it to maintain what surprise is left, true or not.

The only other theory is that the MC isn’t a pure blooded human, and his father is the suspected demon lord.

Edit: although, these posts I missed make sense. There can’t be another Kail unless they introduce world line hopping without use of the dragon heart artifact thing.

the demon queen pointed out this chapter that kyle's soul was changing and that his body could change because of it too

Kyle could easily become different enough due to this that he becomes the hornless, winged demon lord and doesn't merge with human Kyle on a future rewind because his soul has been changed that much

I wouldn't be surprised if the story ends up a stable time loop, with Kyle as both the protagonist and antagonist, defeating himself at the end
