See I would feel bad for him if he wasn't a literal demon that corrupts everyone around him. All he had to do was eat an ass kicking or two early on and he'd be fine. Everyone knows when you win you either have to keep winning or lose, he chose to keep beating people up and by extension keeping his legend alive. He's an emotionally immature psycho who ruins everything he touches
Doubt that would work as Teru kicked his ass but people still treat him as scary. Him losing a fight would mean he would be seen as a gatekeeper from the weak to the strong and still have to fight. Hell even if he lost every fight he would still be hounded by everyone. In this case he'd be treated as an easy mark to bully.

I'm not sure if this is intentional or not, but the current arc is a great critique for Japan's system of society exclusion (and by extension, most prison systems in the world).

How do you expect a criminal to fair better in the future if you take them out of the society? Like, what do you think they will do next? Take their worse treatment lying down oooor try their luck doing a criminal activity again because, sure it's risky, but it gets you the actual profits? No surprise most of them pick option no.2.
Especially so when you have cases like Tsuyoshi's where he just got caught up in a bunch of other people's bullshit.
Do you know if someone labeled as anti-social can be rehabilitated under Japanese law

you know this was covered right? the guy who was spying for the americans told him "why didnt you just let them beat you?" and he was like "uhh? I never thought of that", so in the tourney he actually lets teru beat him just so he could leave early

This is honestly a really insightful point. Tsuyoshi's sin that lead to all of this was pride, and more specifically pride in a way almost everyone reading it wouldn't be comfortable admitting is pride.

I mean Teru is right throughout history violent revolution has brought change towards equality for better treatment of lower classes, women, POC, and LGBTQ+, and sure some revolutions weren't clean cut with flowery endings but it damn well beat staying in the status quo where the oppressors can tell the ones they oppressed that all is fine.

That's where the immature beat really shines through. It doesn't take a genius to find out that if you are known for being strong taking a dive or two would solve that. What little tsuyoshi has lost in his life (he had next to nothing to lose to begin with) has corrupted him without skipping a beat. He was always a shitty person and wanted to hurt people, that's the only logical assumption with how he's been written

Teru beat him wicked far into the story. I'm taking about as soon as he realized people were challenging him to test themselves (Ie like a year before the story takes place) he'd most likely avoid all this

Are you really victim blaming a guy that was put in jail for no reason?
Uh yea? Im victim blaming the guy who feeds his own urban legend about a super strong warrior and then bitches and moans when being the strongest man on earth comes with downsides. He is the sole reason his name got thrown out into the world as a super strong monster for people to try and hunt

People would still fuck with him even if he did take a dive or too before. That and they will probably fuck up his body badly.

Tsuyoshi who is damn near indestructible and can dodge bullets and punch through concrete? Im not saying he has to lay down and die after the first thug but there's a difference between going 20% and -100%. People would have zero reason to fuck with him if he wasn't actively building his reputation of being the strongest
