@yumian
in the manhua app they put it as xianxia
personally i think it's more of xianxia since it's relating to gods and the upper realms
xuanhuan genre would be more of levelling up on a regular basis and becoming stronger?

@NiHaiMeiShui From what I know, both xianxia and xianhuan do share the cultivation thing. Hence why I have a hard time differentiating the two genre. Someone mentioned to look out for the presence of Daoist elements to distinguish the two, but I don't know what Daoist elements are.

@yumianyeah the line btwn them quite blurry, hmm maybe it better to not categorise it by specic element
from china forums, xuanhuan tends to be a rather loose genre that allows more room for creativity. It has the most freedom compared to other genres and the author tends to develop their own element and add inspiration from everywhere. It is regarded as an uncoventional genre where anything imagined can be written.
i.e. the author creates
-multiple worlds
-magic country
-leveling system
-incorparates all forms of inspired elements from various genres with no rules
(feng shui/exorcism/authors-self created elements)
-exciting and hot blooded because there's always something new in every arc

xianxia tends to be a little more restricted
-normally will focus a little more on the feelings between ml and fl
-less hot-blooded
-will have cultivation but it does not have to be the focus
-more storytelling

if you have the hard time categorising then look for what genre the author categorised it since they know their work the best
