Why is the world government even concerned about manga we read every day? They should be focused on other things besides what we read.

@bosswoman That's a question that deserves its own PHd thesis, but if you're willing to settle for a summarized but oversimplified answer; because the apolitical masses have continuously spent decades saying "Not my problem" every time some random bureaucrat or tin-pot dictator decided to seize more power. "...good people do nothing" and all that.

See that on reddit where some admins already banned some images and users for mere innocent FAN-ARTS (you can see these pictures on /r/anime, there is a pinned topic).
This should tell you something important, when you criminalize ART, since is subjective and not something objective like real people, you end up to being judged even by someone that have no idea what anime are, this is all based on thoughts. You can be banned and accused to be the bad guy over these trivial things. When something is not clear and full of holes it shouldn't be never enforced, because law protect people and not their own morals. This inclusion of drawings is so wrong and pathetic and can set the end of japanese media how we know till now if the jap gov make it into national law.

Another pathetic excuse is also normalization of the act and so portrayed into the real world. Is obvious that you can't react the same when you see a drawing in a certain situation and real people suffering, is a normal reaction, fake characters don't have humans rights and do not exist in the first place, you can feel bad for a character but the same feeling will never be the same when you real people in pain. These 2 things can't never be compared, make no sense.
There is zero evidence of this, and after all these years (30+ years i read manga and watch anime) i never seen a single case where someone passed from a manga to imitate it into the real world. As videogames do not create people who rampage into the streets with guns.
There is also another issue regarding the age of such fake characters (as reddit mods explained), the definition of a kid is from 1 to 17, applying the real life logic to a draw , expecially japanese stilised art style is pratically impossible, and wasting time to understand the age of a draw is something absurd to begin with. The people banned in reddit that posted innocent fan arts explain this oddity, since the admins have no idea what anime are they just start a campaign to ban everything remotely nsfw or that incluse a sexual pose with and ONLY anime art style.

Regarding the whole proposal seems directed to Japan since they include figures and toys, is an attack to the otaku culture but this time using more international pressures. Japan already GTFO these useless left wing parties 2 times in the past, hopefull they do it again this time. Japan gov should never listen to foreign private organizations that want to dictate how the whole world should work.

Hope MD will not ban ecchi and hentai since the witch hunt histeria seems at the peak and now the new scapegoat after rock music and violent videogames seems anime art style.

Never stop to fight for your own rights and freedom of expression, censorship start exploiting something maybe you don't like, but is the purpose, and it will and end up to remove step by step more tiles of freedom.

They're viewing the concept of underage loli/shotas and applying it as little boys and girls without looking at the context behind each situation. Just another case of whoever is in control has the say in what goes. Most assume there's a standard that needs to be upload but not understanding there's a standard per situation but hey we aren't in position of power, they're.

I love the warped priorities that the UN has. Let's worry about banning drawings rather than all the human rights violations in the world.

The wording in the bill seems to criminalize a whole lot of people. E.g even Comic Hotmilk does include flat chested women from time to time, so even boob loving people would be guilty of the "crime".

“As a minimum, States parties must establish criminal jurisdiction over all offences mentioned in article 3, para. 1, as explained under the section on Prohibition, when they are committed in their territory, including on board of a ship or aircraft registered in their countries, regardless of the location of said ship or aircraft. This allows the State to investigate and prosecute all these offences regardless whether the alleged perpetrator or the victim is a national of that State. If necessary, the State can issue an international warrant for the arrest of the alleged perpetrator. The Committee urges States parties to adopt legislation to comply with this obligation if this is not already the case. “

This sort of legal action is mainly reserved for actual content, and should not be in any way be enforced for drawings.

By the way, in case anyone missed it, not everything is great with Reddit.

============================
What is happening recently is that if you disagree with Reddit's owners or the Mods on whatever Reddit topic you post on, they love to censor you or use bots to block your content.

I don't mind when racists or criminals people get the ban hammer, but lately it's mostly been used as a "I don't agree with you so I ban you" tool.

It's getting out of hand in that this is a subversion of free speech where the controlling company and media companys censor people they don't like because they can. This type of behavior only radicalizes the silenced people because if you don't listen to them, WHY SHOULD THEY right?

It's the United Nations. Nobody serious has given a single shit about that bloated, corrupt mammoth of the old ages for decades anymore. As soon as the Cold War ended, the United Nations should have ended as well. Seriously, when was the last time you read about the UN in the news (like real news, not this particular news)? Do you remember what it was about? The UN is nothing but waste of money these days, but for some reason nobody has the heart to perform the coup de grace.

So, uh, what's the international standard for underage/children/loli/shota whatever you call it (if age is the objective denominator in the first place)? Also related, if there's no actual physical 'victim', which country's age limit should be used?

What would happen if you self published a comic with naked underage girls, but it looked like it was drawn by a fifth grader? Would you get arrested?

Today is the last day to email in your comment/objection on their overzealous labeling of shota/loli as the actual stuff.

I feel that this whole issue is a slippery slope. As what’s to stop them from banning a series that’s either shonen, sennin. As some series have characters that are either loli/shota just for the FBI/Police jokes.

Litteraly came here to read the comments.

Also, love how the world is turning full shimoneta.
Maybe I'll live long enough to be tracked as a terrorist for wearing a pair of panties on my head.
Or at the very least seeing all the endoctrined masses engage in WW3 and get purified by a bunch of nukes.

Either way, it's gonna be so much fun I cannot wait.
