Well, at least here, she has this mind-reading ability. Lots of people in toxic and abusive relationship irl can't do that, and simply trick themselves into thinking there's deep and intense love behind all the harsh words thrown at them.
And more often than not, they're dead wrong.
The concept is fun and quirky until you start seriously thinking about it. So maybe I should stop overanalyzing it before I spoil the aftertaste...
Man I hate tsunderes, there have been maybe 5 that I have actually liked, I just don't understand how people like them. They are immature, annoying, and sometime I wish I was in the manga, solely to slap them across the face.
The fantasy setting and magic really help this be a fun read and not creepy and upseting... So far at least.
Also, his harsh treatment of her verbally is not just his resentment of everyone twisting his personality - he is trying to drive her off to spare her of his fate. It is a misguided attempt at protecting her image.
Hopefully she manages to get it through his thick head that it isn't needed/working and he softens it greatly. Him being gloomy and hostile still is fine, but calling her b**ch one threatening her is gonna sour things fast beyond the initial setup chapters.
This is really cute but hoo-boy... I can only really tolerate a guy calling a girl a bitch so many times before it makes my teeth grit and skin crawl, no matter how much his inner monologue says otherwise...
A tsundere, but not the type to hide their feelings by beating the shiz out of you. Just verbally assaults you. But then again the "lemme punch/kick you baka!" type of tsundere is only socially acceptable somewhat if the tsundere is a girl. If a male tsundere punched his female love interest, then everybody will raise hands. Not that I think female tsunderes that beat you are any better at all.
