Yea, I agree that this really feels like a toxic relationship. I mean, it's apparently that she literally conquered him completely, even with the tsundere consent in mind, it's way too much. Comrade-zoned by your wife is a hell if I were him. But well, he seems cool with it and apparently he has a happy life too. So who am I to bother? Let's continue this poisonous sweetness!

Working to pick up translation on this series, if there's anything I understand about the story, is that it's telling the extremes of tough love. This is specific to the wife character, of course, and that's the entire point of this story. At times, even I get confused as to how realistic such a relationship is, but it's not my place to worry about that.

@iykoou brought up a good point regarding "Comrade-zoned". The word that I translated into "comrade" was originally "Senyuu", from the kanji "Sen"(War) and "Yuu"(Friend). Perhaps simply translating it into "comrade" might have misrepresented the wife character's...well, character. I fully believe she is the type of person to fully dedicate herself to what she's doing (as seen in the part-time job chapter), thus explaining the "war" part. In that sense, her seeing the husband as a friend in this war probably shows how she values him more than she lets on.

I don't fully agree that this is a toxic relationship. Husband got shit to figure out, so the straight-laced no-bullshit wife whips him into shape. Meanwhile, the wife is inspired by his hardworking attitude as well as his insight on things, maybe showing us why she was interested in him in the first place. In toxic relationships, I would never imagine seeing two people supporting each other like in this series.

But again, what do I know? I'm just a guy on the internet.
