Since dude is gone now, I feel like bringing back what's her face is a moot point now.

The effort to revive her had nothing to do with Teru pining for her-- she was killed in a freak accident, and the alien proposed that she could be revived. Teru's relevance was that his trying to find her complicated the protagonist's efforts to keep everything under wraps while they were whittling down the time to when she could be revived.

It's not as if her life only had worth because of Teru's infatuation, though I can understand the instinct to think this way since a lot more time is spent focusing on Teru's preoccupation with her and its consequences rather than the girl and her life separate from him.
