Comparatively, Manaka’s ex was easy to vilify since he had no foothold in the story, but maybe Manaka’s friendship with the bullies is making her question what’s the best outcome for Ueno? I don’t see how the situations are different tho

I understand the frustration from the reader's perspective, knowing the correct answer for Ueno's mental health should be to reject Chisaki but it's not as easy as saying no for a rape victim. He also wants to end relationship with Chisaki as amicably as possible with her (which it won't).

Because Ueno is a good person. He has a lot of different emotions when it comes to Chisaki, but hate doesn't seem to be one of them. He realizes that she's just as broken as him, so he would spare her unnecessary suffering if he could.
