I just want to read Jade x Garnett. I know it’s an extremely unpopular opinion but I just can’t find kids cute in manga, they just annoy me. I don’t know why, I can’t help it

How did Dorami loose to that snob in a cuteness contest? Author needs to rethink his life

Before I forget, thanks for this chapter, Fish Friends.

I do think I would normally agree with you, as many kids in manga are just brats. As such, all they do is amount to minor nuisances to protagonists--and, by extension, any reader that doesn't think a kid is cute just because the kid exists--that are nevertheless significant enough to be noticeably annoying. Worse, they get away with all their misconduct and are allowed to continue in such misconduct because they're "cute" (i.e., you're intended to regard them as such, no matter what); the significance of their misbehavior can escalate to outright injurious evil, and they still get away with everything because "they're kids, they don't know better."

Despite this, I think Dorami's done well: she's actually innocent and well meaning in all her childlike ignorance, but I do think the far-and-away biggest factor contributing to my appreciation of her is the fact that the author is not a pedophile, and therefore does not depict her as an object intended to be viewed with sexual attention--in other words, she is not a loli. Consequently, and refreshingly, Dorami is not sexualized to any degree: she's not regarded as a potential love interest, as Jade is only interested in Garnet and seems to view Dorami as either a little sister or daughter; she's also never decked out in clothing suitable for physically mature women, with her attire neither being tight nor revealing. Her depiction is wholesome.

That said, the portions of the story that revolve around her do come across as being suitable for a very young female audience. (Thus, I can imagine why you can't seem to like her. Perhaps her exploits come across as senseless and pointless, to you?) I, myself, would be (and am, actually) far more interested in Jade and Garnet, but Dorami does bring adorable and wholesome humor of her own to the table. And, in keeping with what I said before, not being deeply disgusted by her every appearance helps things where I am concerned.
