Sometimes this manga depletes my stock of jokes about emotional swings and unexpected extremeness much more than any Noa-sempai or ReZero. I realize that "it's personal" is one of the main selling points of this franchise, but sometimes it catches even me off guard.

That's why I love CG, we know most of the umas as cute goofy goofballs that run fast (gross oversimplification but you get what I mean), but we can't forget that they're actual people too in their world (obviously duh).

They each have their own feelings and living in a happy only world is for dreamers, the negative is always around the corner and we're seeing both the top of the ups and lowest of lows of the characters and honestly, I much prefer it this way.

Hate and conflict is as natural as love and unity, they're both 2 sides of the same coin and Cinderella Gray shows it to us.

Sure, in other Umamusume IPs there are some dark moments where characters can fall into depression due to a fracture or something like that, but we rarely get intersocial conflict like on here and that's what is really refreshing to see.

I get it, it's just that UM is so good at convincing me that this is still a typical bishoujo gatcha that every time things catch me off guard when the story returns to the "it's personal" narrative again. Especially when I read a CG chapter like this the day after yet another Goldshi's goofy comedy.

I swear so many of the competitors feel like I expect to see the 'bad end' to a run screen in summary about them. When you can switch perspectives, that everyone else's dreams fail 'that time' aren't so much a problem. But here, it's Oguri's star shining in the center of the universe, always.
