So Belno actually graduate and come back as a trainer and have actual job. Finally we see an uma musume that actually doesn't stuck in the school loop even tho they are retired/graduate. Tho it seems Oguri still stuck in the school loop as a "senpai" student even years past like the rest of the non OC Uma musume lol.

Wish they actually give an explanation why the older/retired Uma still a student even years past in the anime pretty derby/CG. They could easily say they are like a special support for new racer or something. But they obviously still student even after years.

Love the reference there for Kitahara having Daiwa Scarlet and Buena Vista as his trainees. He's also a stand in for Oguri's jockey on Kasamatsu Katsumi Ando which was the one who studied hard to be Oguri's jockey for JRA central. Also Belno being his assistant, similar to how Belno was Roppei's assistant before is a nice touch.

Unfortunately he got his license too late and Oguri already retired, though in this manga he managed to be Oguri's trainer one more time before she retired. He made a name for himself as Daiwa Scarlet's only jockey after he got his license, so pairing him with Daiwa is perfect. He also was Buena Vista's jockey another notable uma on his team.

I guess Oguri's like Rudolf now? Similar to Tama, just chilling in Tracen as a senpai I guess lol. Is tracen also a retirement home for racers lol.

and it's ended with epic finale. didn't felt like gacha adaptation at all, it's epic andromorphic sports throughout. it does sometimes rely on waifu-ism and game reference which lower my enjoyment a bit, but still very solid sports manga with all sports element into it. the characters and conflict and the sports surprisingly very heavy on realism too despite they are actually horse race with fantasy element. overall 9/10. but not trying other uma musume manga if it's not similar with this one. i heard the other more leaning on gacha/waifu side.

In case anyone missed it, the whole ending basically a throwback to Starting Gate!Uma Musume manga (the one that inspired the Pretty Derby S1 anime) chapter 4. Perhaps it's a sort of prequel to that, or an AU to that, who knows.

This manga clearly changed my life. It may sounds crazy but this one little gray horse has single handedly thrown me into the Umamusume pit. Now I'm a fan of horses races, going to see big races like Arc de Triomphe and I wish I could train my own horse to see him run on the turf.
