How do you know it didn't just finish at 15 rather than get axed?
On that note, I took a quick look at mangaupdates, and it has two statuses, vol 1. (ongoing) and chapter 15 (completed)... so is it still going in some form, or is that a mistake?

Might be that volume 2 won't be released until August if I remember correctly? The series has definitely ended though, with this thank you tweet by Hirata as confirmation:

I saw "completed at Mangadex page of the manga and after that I've searched for the raws.

Spoiler: ending

at one chapter. Umeko and her friends go to a shrine and when they leave that place, Umeko turned into a "purify" version of herself, she's beautiful. However, she quickly turned back into her usual Umeko self.

The 2 last chapters, Umeko friend throws some sort of "salt" that brings back her purify version and MC meets her, have a little picnic with her, but she goes back to the usual self and he runs away. Later, he discovers Umeko's true self (the Sadako one, that was scaring him) and he's no longer scared of her.

It's not clear that they're dating (because I don't know japanese), but they seem close friends

Doesn't that actually give credence to all his fears though? She actually IS CURSED in that case!
Anyway, seems like it has a decent ending at least - nothing worse than a "to be continued (never)" ending, or an incredibly messy rushed ending.

Other romcom has better art and characters that bait people into reading it, as simple as that.
