I think that the thread rather than being a passive matchmaking deal has simply come to be viewed that way by people. I think it manifests when one partner realises that they deeply and truly love the other. Hence the inconsistent timing? I mean Senpai's case certainly has the hallmarks of that for sure.

That's totally unfair tho, just because X likes Y, Y is now connected forever with them and will never find happiness with someone else? And from a background char saying something like "Thank goodness we met each other through the thread." makes it seem that you can be connected with someone you never even met.
