The monsters in this remind me of Fuan no Tane- just superb.
YESSS Masaaki Nakayama was my go-to as well. The doll's face from that one issue looked JUST like something he would make. The use of wide-open mouths with no teeth is also a stylistic consistency.
Anyway, about the story: I like that we started off with "it's a ghost" and then immediately pivoted to "oh no it might not just be a ghost." I wonder if that little girl shut up because the thing, whatever it was, had turned its attention to her in order to convey the message of "don't speak about me"?
