I bet it is. They may even be trying to save people from their fate. Not what's up with the big guy though.

Weird fruit design. Shady business owner. A product too good to be true. Now, I really hope the twist isn't just "the farmer made a deal with devils" or "those are the people who ate the fruit" or something. The author can do better than that, they get really high-concept with some of these.
