So... this time, what's going on is that the fruits of the farm, when eaten, cause you to be replaced by the fruit itself (or something like that) and you instead regress into a monkey-like being that is doomed to forever stay in the fruit forest and try to prevent people from taking the fruits.

Now that the fruits have become famous, more and more people will eat the fruits, and thus be replaced.

You know, maybe this world really is screwed lol. First it was the briefcase destroying multiple countries, now these fruits may infect the entire world and replace them.

I'm actually surprised that the MCs and Daidai didn't eat the fruit, especially when Yume's danger sense wasn't apparently working. Especially Daidai, she seems like she'd try to eat them randomly but she thankfully didn't.

Yeah seems like this one was pretty straightforward, you eat "enough" of the fruit or maybe you just eat any at all and the fruit takes your body copying you, and the real you is shunted out, to act forever as the fruit's guardians.

Yeah but the good news at least is that at some point, you'll reach critical mass and there will be just too many cursed people for anyone to take the fruits, even if the monkeys are weak.

There's actually a reason why Daida doesn't eat those fruits. The first chapter in this arc stated that she's on a diet. Also anybody remember what happened to her at the mansion? Makes sense she wouldn't eat anything suspicious while on the job lol.

Perhaps the fruits are meant to suggest the Biblical "fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil" that Adam and Eve were (supposedly) forbidden to eat in the Garden of Eden.

If so, then the separate realm in which the fruit grows could be Eden, or a version of it. But rather than expanding understanding and free will, this fruit strips them away, reverting those who eat it to a primitive state. They go "back to the Garden" in a rather horrific way.
