Anyone know what the shiitake mushrooms joke was about? I didn't understand it well. Was it supposed to show his desperation in wanting to quit his job or was that the comic relief part?

@darkflame raising mushrooms is a really loner/loser thing to do in Japan, it's a joke in manga sometimes for the 'forever alone' guy to raise mushrooms, so I assumed it was joke about him just wanting to be alone
