I'm not surprised she's useless in combat but I didn't expect her to get caught that easily.

Why even go if you're gonna fumble at the first sign of resistance, even without the bear there, what was she gonna do after dropping the wand and losing her only bargaining chip?

Doesn't she have a high position in the government that involves doing a lot of magic? Her being useless in a fight feels a bit contrived and sexist.
Have to do the outdated damsel in distress trope for her to admit her feelings for the MC. Wish some authors would do something different and not rely on that tired old trope.

Maybe I forgot something, but Weiss never uses a wand. Is that something unique to just him, or what?

Did you all forget Weiss is a dark magic user? Most everybody else aren't killers and have to have wands.

I'm a bit disappointed at *the author for writing her like this :aquadrink::nyoron:
Yeah. Quickly skimming through the previous chapters, it doesn't seem she is military or something even if she is part of the Ministry of Magic. She is also the bookish sort as we've seen...

But still, I would expect being an assistant to the Minister of Magic should have some combat skills so this was a pathetic show from her, and to that extent, the author 😅

the reading experience has definitely leveled up recently... I'd have to go back to check to make sure where this happened, but I guess the group finally got an actual TL instead of relying on MTL? xD

It's the "Minister" of Magic, probably just an administrative office, doesn't have to be associated to the military. I mean just look at Hegseth, Secretary of Defense/War, who doesn't know shit about combat.

Yes I'm aware she's the bookish sort and magic ≠ military, but it's her first scene in action, and it's a pathetic display.

To me, the real blunder was having her rush off without Weiss in the first place. She's supposed to be smart and bookish. If she's not that great or experienced at combat then she should be more aware of that and defer more to Weiss because that would've been the best/smartest thing for her to do in that situation (and she's supposed to be smart).

Even if she is actually pretty strong and just didn't get to show it because they had a hostage, she still should've coordinated with Weiss first. Weiss is a strong and combat savvy magician. She knows this and is familiar with him (they're literally on a date). Why not use/cooperate with him in this situation? Even if she thought she could handle the situation on her own, why pass on the free support? Just because the author wanted a damsel in distress?

What a waste.

They've REALLY been setting up her confession this last little while, I hope she actually does take her own advice and say something—it would be pretty stupid to have her go through a life-threatening experience, recognize she should've said she likes him earlier, and still not go through with it.

Also kinda confused about how we got into this situation? Since she ran off on her own I assumed she could back herself up with magic—but she can't? Maybe she's a bit starry-eyed and figured that so long as she had her wand she'd be fine? Seems needlessly naïve for such a clever person though (or well, she was presented as such throughout the manga, I haven't actually seen a lot of practical evidence to support that lol).
