I got a strong feeling things were better in that household, for the rabbit girl, in the beginning. However, the parents noticed things could develop into a sexual or, worst of all, romantic direction between the rabbit girl and the son, and that's when they stomped the brake like never before. At least they were responsible enough to not get rid of the rabbit girl haphazardly.

Who knows what's going to happen once the son finishes high school and moves out. If he takes the rabbit girl with him, then all bets are off. If the rabbit girl remains in that house, her treatment might actually gradually become better since the parents wouldn't need to worry anymore about her relationship with the son. However, she calls the boy the owner. If they are separated, maybe she will fall ill and perish.
