I find myself clicking the logo when trying to refresh the page so that I can update the "Latest Updates" chaps. This has happened multiple times, to me at least. I don't know if it's common for other sites or not.
I do hope it's simple enough to implement though XD

or we can have another button for that. It can definitely help with content loading, so a bunch of these data don't have to be reloaded helping load time for people using public wifi:

I don't actually understand what that means... but from what I can see I assume that it takes 50~ seconds worth of communication between the client device and server just to completely load the page?

Most of this gets cached either way so it’s not as bad as you’re showing for a normal refresh.

Oh shit! Am I fucking retarded?! I forgot to toggle the disable cache off.
MD is an SPA - the vast majority of every page remains cached as you navigate between them. If you've really disabled caching on the site somehow, it will be a horrible experience.

For example, once cached, loading the homepage uses <1mb and loading a title page uses about 200kb.

50.94 seconds... WTF?!?!
50 seconds to load 3.5mb, with individual 2kb resources taking over half a second, means there's something massively wrong with your connection.

For the OP - clicking the site logo to return to the home page is a design standard for a reason, changing it to duplicate a browser function that you can access by clicking the refresh button/pressing F5/swiping down would be pointless and confusing.

Yeah I'd like to disagree on your opinion but uh... to each their own I suppose, though then why does other big websites have this feature? Youtube, github, reddit just to name a few.

I think OP wants clicking the logo to refresh the main page when you're already on the main page (which it doesn't currently)

clicking youtube icon returns you to youtube.com
clicking github icon returns you to github.com

what are you smoking? it's a design standard
