I was already up to ch 187 on re reading. If the best scanlators are starting from the first chap then I’ll start from it again as well. It’s worth it.
This is cool to see. My group released our version of chapter 1 almost 11 years ago now (our very first release). Life happens so we couldn't continue, but I'm glad there was a group that could finish this series and still work to make the chapters uniform with their translation and style.
Interesting to see the author made a mistake, but it could easily be fixed by changing the number or by saying the board in the manga was a different one from the standard casino board (probably because it was illegal).
ohhhh my god you guys are awesome. I appreciate Miracle Attack and EGS for getting this project started, but I would absolutely love to re-read it with Duwang scanlation quality and translations for the early chapters.
Big thanks to your group getting it started <3! For me, the beginning of the abandoned building arc is where the manga really starts changing from being an "ordinary gambling manga" to something truly unique, so I'm grateful you guys got that far. I assume that's what got EGS interested as well.

Some thoughts from a reread perspective
I didn't realize that Kaji was so experienced in regular gambling, to know such an obscure slots mechanic and something like the flower bet. It just clicked for me that this first chapter shows how Kaji really likes gambling. So Baku probably befriended Kaji not only because he was a good person, but because they both really like gambling, and Baku wanted to show him how to really gamble by taking him on his crazy journey to conquer Kakerou. Kinda like making friends of the same hobby, lol.
Btw, we mentioned that we'd redo specific earlier chapters before, but we've instead decided to do all of the beginning!
You're not kidding. I hadn't been regularly reading the series for a few years and when I checked back I couldn't believe how different it had become.
People are mentioning early quality and I'm chuckling at how old things look after 11 years and what I'm assuming were frequent re-uploads of our first chapters to other sites (mangadex wasn't around in my day). We've been out of the game for a long time but I'm definitely impressed at how far the subbing community has come when you take a look at raw quality available, cleanup efforts and redrawing. I enjoyed the effort put into chapter one explaining the gambling and gaming aspects since that was definitely off our radar at the time.
No way. Duwang completes their first run and now they're doing a second run? I'm all for rereading this series.
I've never been as invested in a manga like Usogui in the past. Even if Duwang is only translating the first chapter, it's still nostalgic.
It's almost like when a series chooses to end by showing a prologue to the series for closure.
