@catx3
That's a really good point, and something I didn't realize either.
I always thought he initially helped Kaji just because he was kind to Baku, which is definitely the case, but if he shows signs of gambling sense this early on, then it makes sense Baku would bring him along and trust him with the money from the Building gamble.
It was pretty funny how the hoodie guy's commentary was sorta off. Like Baku had him half convinced that his "put money on every number" ploy was an actual strategy lol
Big thanks to your group getting it started <3! For me, the beginning of the abandoned building arc is where the manga really starts changing from being an "ordinary gambling manga" to something truly unique, so I'm grateful you guys got that far. I assume that's what got EGS interested as well.

Some thoughts from a reread perspective
I didn't realize that Kaji was so experienced in regular gambling, to know such an obscure slots mechanic and something like the flower bet. It just clicked for me that this first chapter shows how Kaji really likes gambling. So Baku probably befriended Kaji not only because he was a good person, but because they both really like gambling, and Baku wanted to show him how to really gamble by taking him on his crazy journey to conquer Kakerou. Kinda like making friends of the same hobby, lol.
Btw, we mentioned that we'd redo specific earlier chapters before, but we've instead decided to do all of the beginning!
