Really like how we have been getting more morally complex antagonists lately sometimes. It was a dumb way to lose but makes sense that he would fall back by instinct.

Also 2 out from Lalo's team, huhu. Fukurou and Jonglyo left till the final boss.

Kaji's Idea of being baku's equal:
1. Got lucky his bullet is damaging the shield handle.
2. Got lucky that the referee was willing to help him within the rules.
3. Got lucky floyd bullet was not causing lethal damage.
4. Got lucky floyd stepped his foot out of line (it's not really luck in this case, but well...)

I think Kaji still needs "cross the bridge" before wanting to be Baku's equal. Except, kaji could show us a greater mastermind trick more than baku (which is a bit impossible)

At the rate Kaji is going, I wonder how he'll measure up for the final gamble. Still feels like he has a good ways to go.

@rennov yeah, but much of that luck was influenced by him (shooting at the shield, covering his vitals with his arms, sweet-talking kadokura, etc). Baku also relies on luck sometimes. Him figuring out Suteguma's 4d chess thing was a bit lucky since it involved the sniper and those weird ass dreams.

@belkrax

Yeah, I agree. Kaji has its own charm in playing on some high level gambling. But Kaji in this case too much relied on third party kindness (even the bios he had came from champ n ryusei selling his citizenship). Not to mention, Floyd was actually able to read Kaji train of thought completely!

In other side, Kaji actually can end the game by shooting the person directly, either arm or collar bone or any non lethal area that can bring big advantage. But he chose not to cross the bridge, so he need to rely on others kindness in high-stake gambling. This is what I meant by he need to "cross the bridge" first before wanting to be baku equal

The batch'll stop at 376!

Yeah, he hasn't had a really big play in awhile, not in this match or in the battleship arc. His KY declaration and bull game were pretty crazy in comparison.

Maybe his final step of becoming Baku's equal will come from a match against Fukurou. I'm curious whether the author will pit Hal vs Fukurou for redemption, or Kaji vs Fukurou to show him beating an opponent that (young) Hal couldn't before. Or maybe he'll play a major role in surpassing the leader, although that'd be a 2v1? It would also be insane if he fought against Lalo in this arc but I doubt that'll happen.

---

Floyd Lee played a pretty good match despite having no Kakerou match experience (or even knowledge about Kakerou until a few days ago). The scene where it talked about how Lalo was lacking in suitable allies is interesting, it's quite unlucky of him to not have Caracal or Voja here in this crucial match.

Do you have any plays on redoing any of the chapters done by Easy Going Scans? Cause there are many points in their scans where the English is so bad its hard to even make out what the characters are trying to communicate and it just reads weirdly. Its whats holding me back from reading this manga, as great as it seems.

Wow, Kaji have finally become Baku's equal! (In that he can also captivate people with his gambling) I know he probably have a long way to go before being at the same skill level as Baku, but still, seeing Floyde captivated by Kaji the same the way Kaji was captivated by Baku in the past, really shows you he come a long way.

So about Kadokura and Boro saying the loser would have to be a corpse that says no words...did they just assume the loser would be killed in this game, or was it a guarantee that the loser would be purged in the event they survive? I've been assuming the latter, but I guess this becomes one of those weird Kakerou situations where they're torn between upholding the rules of the gamble (the bet was "exile") and trying to honor their agreement with Daiba (to eliminate all exiled players).

I like Kaji's path of winning allies through charisma. It's interesting that he wants to forge his own path where nobody has to actually die in a Kakerou gamble even if people are putting their lives on the line, but it follows his character arc well. From the gamble with Samemaru where he wouldn't let Kakerou collect him, to being sick at Sadakuni hanging from the gallows, to deluding himself into thinking Ikuto had any other way out other than the bull, etc. He's come a long way, I'm just wondering what his next step is.

Felt real chills and real thrills and no one even died, that's intense.

I didn't really care for this game. The winning condition could apparently be summed up as "get your opponent disqualified via the other rules". Even if it was a 'conclusive' round it would simply mean that the other person couldn't play anymore and would consequently be disqualified. I think that would come down to a battle of wills (It's just a flesh wound) and that just doesn't feel as exciting, even if "get your opponent disqualified" is a pretty nifty winning condition.

I'm kinda excited for Hal & Kaji's meeting more.

I don't buy it, relying on reocurring unreasonable luck doesn't make you Baku's equal
