@caitsith it's probably some sort of archaic metaphor. what I think is that Bǎi Lóng tries to say is that if you get rusty enough and not take care of yourself to the degree where you feel something so minuscule happening, you've already grown weak and complacent, thus become fodder to people of mass destruction like him.

@Woodchipper, it's the opposite actually. Back at the chapter where referee Amen is revealed to be a woman, Bai Long said that it's already "too late" when you decide to clean your earwax. Feeling your earwax forming is basically impossible by normal biology, what you can feel is when the earwax is already accumulated enough that your hearing is disrupted and your earlobe felt itchy. So you're not supposed to feel good when you answer him "No i don't/can't feel it".

In my opinion he is equating "earwax" with "impending death by Bai Long". People can't feel their earwax just like Bai Long's adversaries doesn't realize encountering him is already guaranteed death. When people decide to clean the earwax/to fight Bai Long, it's already too late. He is basically boasting that enemies who can survive from him are those who never met with him in the first place.

Yakou's already in this match from the beginning. He entered the island later because of his injured hand.

I do like the ear wax line. Its like what Haremmony says, he is boasting that once you encounter him, its too late, you are dead, and the ones fighting him don't even realize this. Its kinda funny that Yakkou replies by acting like he didn't hear him.

Anyways, those last pages were real amazing, I could feel Usogui's heartbeat skip. As for Arata, he was an interesting villain that didn't have much time to be explored. But I guess his role is over with this and most of his characterization here works mostly as characterization for Lalo too.

but at the same time. the rule could also be interpreted that, in the case a reff dies during the ban. another reff has to immediately take their place. to maintain the fixed no of judges at all times.

no lackey's, sweepers or non-reff kakerou agents, just reffthen.

so why no back up or replacement reff at the ready.... plus, what about nowa? was he there from the beginning?
