On the one hand, this is the exact situation where Souichi/Hal/Hachina would lose his memories. And given the conditions of the game, losing his perception of Baku could help. On the other hand, it'd be an odd chain of events after Air Poker for him to wipe his memory again.

@Veshv I think he is now able to keep or erase parts of his memories at will. "I have erased the wedge" to Nowa Shion and "this is my first deadly agony" to Fukurou during air poker came to mind.

It was kinda obvious, but yeah, I figured Souichi was setting himself up for disappointment. Way too overconfident. He's totally rattled now.

Also, I really like that visual representation of Baku with a literal eye in the back of his head. Pretty eerie.

Souichi, you're literally the final boss. Don't you dare turn pathetic here!

On page 5, young Fukurou and his gambling friend look similar young Hal and Baku. Fukurou wearing a hat is especially reminiscent of young Hal. It probably doesn't mean anything, but I found it interesting (also young Fukurou is pretty from what we see of him here, the man was a fool to burn his face off).

@ Elhao
shouldn't the final boss be Hal instead of Souichi? (the Marco/Rodemu vibe there..)

This is pretty similar to Air Poker in the way that in that match he had to die on purpose to actually win the match but his Leader persona regarded any death as a failure, so he was going to be "reset".
Similarly, in this match it would be more beneficial for him to follow Baku's strategy because he has the advantage of a turn. But his Leader persona considered winning through death an imperfect victory.
So, he tried to beat Baku through reading him but failed.

Now, I guess, just like air poker we will see Hal.

@0verSky I was also gonna say there is still 3 more volumes, seems unlikely drop the handkerchief will last for that long. I figure (hope...) there should be one more gamble.

When the characters keep saying there's a "safe strategy" in a gambling manga, you just know there's going to be a wrinkle that exploits it. People have been speculating something with the timer and the new year, I wonder if Baku could exploit that to cause the penalty. If he explicitly told Yakou to pick the handkerchief game, he might understand the basics of the game (and know enough about Yakou to conceive of how he would construct the game). I'm not sure if that was his exact plan going in, I think he had put Kaji there to cast doubt on literally anything in the tower, but even if he didn't come in expecting to use that timer, he could certainly find an opportunity to exploit this opening...he was able to grasp Sadakuni's cheating and manipulate the game into falling directly on his blind spot at the most crucial time after all.

Yakou's hand is already coming apart...CPR does require a large amount of force to be done properly. You have to wonder if at some point he won't be able to revive them anymore.

Very, very weird to see Souichi this rattled.
