Insane read by Baku. I hadn't even considered that Souichi was leveraging the referees into quieting the clock so he could use his echolocation better.
One other thing I've wanted to mention that I thought about while the batch was on break: this manga makes a lot of the idea of "karma". "The karma of a referee" and things like that. I'd even say Baku feeling like he's constantly being chased by the ghosts of people who have died in his gambles (Sadakuni) could be an extension of this. The idea that a gambler who only wins cannot exist, that eventually his karma will catch up with him. Hell, even right now it seems like he feels as though he created the monster Souichi before him. Eko's feelings about Souichi seem to be similar, I think she was more worried about karma than destiny, as much as she tries to talk about the latter. She seems convinced that Souichi causing Tatsuki's death is a punishment for her, and that's why she figured if she could kill herself and accept all the karma of her misdeeds onto herself at once, maybe destiny could change and Tatsuki could be spared. It's a good running theme for a manga like this.
