I had thought that the ticking was actually the way Leader was detecting the handkerchief, turns out it was the opposite. Great read by Baku. Although I have my doubts about the flattened handkerchief working, but we'll see.

Insane read by Baku. I hadn't even considered that Souichi was leveraging the referees into quieting the clock so he could use his echolocation better.

One other thing I've wanted to mention that I thought about while the batch was on break: this manga makes a lot of the idea of "karma". "The karma of a referee" and things like that. I'd even say Baku feeling like he's constantly being chased by the ghosts of people who have died in his gambles (Sadakuni) could be an extension of this. The idea that a gambler who only wins cannot exist, that eventually his karma will catch up with him. Hell, even right now it seems like he feels as though he created the monster Souichi before him. Eko's feelings about Souichi seem to be similar, I think she was more worried about karma than destiny, as much as she tries to talk about the latter. She seems convinced that Souichi causing Tatsuki's death is a punishment for her, and that's why she figured if she could kill herself and accept all the karma of her misdeeds onto herself at once, maybe destiny could change and Tatsuki could be spared. It's a good running theme for a manga like this.

What the fuck lmao. Leader actually manipulating the speaking clock volume is some next level shit. Baku deduction was spot on too.

I know some people didn't like the echolocation thing, but this chapter alone proves that echolocation isn't the strongest card Leader have.

I like that even this seemingly flawless power can be used against Leader. That he knows there are flaws in his abilities is what turns it back into a gamble. If the result is fixed, if Leader is actually perfect, then there is no gamble any more. Is that really what he wants?

What if Baku actually knows of leader's mother and knew that Hal would use echolocation? Maybe he even decided the game according to that assumption because he wants a complete victory too.

I'm also a fan of finally getting into Baku's head and seeing his thought process during the gamble rather than in retrospect.

@Lithe
Yeah, I think its similar to when Lalo visualized Baku screaming "CALL, RAISE" in Air Poker. I think Baku's train of thought is that if he tries to trick him, Souichi will notice and realize his tactic has been seen through. So it's better to just hide it from him entirely.

Won't Kiruma be able to use his echolocation to detect that Baku is sitting down. That might tip off what Baku's plan is. Baku can just put the handkerchief flat on the ground and keep standing up. I wonder if he's still tired from his near death.
