Well, if they’re talking about movies in this chapter, not much a translator can do there. It’s easy to check, because the raws are free on niconico and other places, and everyone can see them talking about 映画 there.
Regarding his partner’s house - pretty sure he’s talking about the younger days of his father, not something he has to do today.

Also, discord is just there to host the links, the actual releases go to Cubari (and get mirrored to dozens of other places), so it’s not like you have to go there specifically.

It’s not like we’re talking about the manga of the year so yeah, the translation is fine. Not good, but fine, I’ve seen way worse MTL. The thing is, MangaDex exists so we don’t have to go to a shit ton of different websites, each with their own quirks, ads and other shady business. If a team doesn’t want to post here anymore, it’s their choice, but don’t they come whining because another team takes up what they won’t touch anymore.

Yeah, and we kicked him for using MTL. Though obviously we should’ve done that sooner, but we wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. Especially since he had quite a record at that point already. Previously we’d have to edit his scripts quite a bit to make them readable, but the guys thought he was just making mistakes (he’s not English native) or smth.
It’s a good lesson for us though, and if we recruit another translator in the future we’ll be sure to actually test them.

End of the story. If the team that doesn’t post on MangaDex whines that I won’t read their version, then it’s on them.

I wouldn’t call it salty, i think it’s just pride in the quality uploaded.
I would much prefer actual translations than MTL, but at the same time, i would rather read MTL to be able to read the first upload. And sometimes, it could be shitty, can’t get that wrong, but i wouldn’t disparage the other group for having machine translations in this era. MTL has changed a ton since its debut. It’s more efficient with AI, but then again it is a matter of losing autonomy and verifiable text. But thats beside the point, I respect any work done on manga that has quality these days. I post for the publicity, for everyone to see and not the fame. While the panic has died down, it is a very valid thing to avoid the minimal chance of a C&D letter to be sent, better safe than sorry.
