I think this is where the legend born of big Norse women driving native Indian attacker, I remembered that there was a legend of a Norse women driving native indians out when they attack Norse settlement and it was written as "a Norse women with barebreast, wielding a sword in one hand and a child in the other, drove the indian pillagers", can't wait to see Cordelia rampages!!

The reason why axes yes and swords no is that swords are only good for killing people while axes have many other uses, same way a rifle can protect you against a wild animal or be used to hunt for meat, but an AA gun battery has only uses in war

You dont use a sword to cut grass or to fell a tree, you only use it to slash and stab humans, thats the idea Thorfinn was against

It’s sad that Einarr is against Thorfinn. the thing is Einar was madly in love with Arnheid and it’s only one-way. Arnheid appreciated Einar’s kindness but would not reciprocate the love that Einar wanted.. Even after the they were freed, Einar never moved on.. it is kind of like an obsession.. Which makes him unable to completely accept and understand Thorfinn’s dream.. though he’s not wrong, Thorfinn’s dream was too much of a fantasy.. humans are the same everywhere..
I think this will lead to Thorkell’s son/daughter to fight against the native Americans to protect Thorfinn’s family..

I mean the whole story has been about futility, right? The entire voyage was pointless, his quest to avenge his father was pointless, and his vow to peace will most likely be pointless.

The point of it is that swords don't have an extra purpose outside of combat. A machete is a better tool, and axe can split wood, and a spear can hunt. Sure you could hunt with a sword, but it's a little pointless.
