Really interesting chapter. I think the conversation between Canute and the priest was supposed to imply the dream of reaching Vinland - which the story has already described as a place with no war, conflict, and slavery. I think the story's supposed to lead to a reconciliation between Thorfinn and Canute that what's truly important cannot be achieved by fighting, a conclusion that Thors has already made up when he decided to stop fighting altogether. I'm really looking forward to seeing how the story uses the definition of "love" as I'm sure that the priest's definition of love being only found through death is a foil to the main message of the story.
